It’s In There? Don’t Bury the Good Stuff
Diving into the job market is no small task. Resumes are expected to capture your best qualities in a ridiculously small amount of space. And trying to tailor each one—even with help from AI—can feel overwhelming.
That said, one of the simplest and most effective things you can do is rearrange your content so it’s easy for a recruiter to see and understand the value you bring. Address the employer’s pain points directly. If the job description emphasizes ERG management first and foremost, don’t bury that experience halfway down page two. The algorithm might advance you, but the human reader could still set your resume aside.
Your goal is to make it as easy as possible for someone to say “yes” to moving you to Stage 2. With only seconds spent scanning your resume, showcase your qualifications by using a functional or categorical format instead of relying solely on a chronological one. You’ll be glad you did—and like the person behind this example, you might even see an uptick in callbacks.
